In 2009 approximately 10% of advertising budgets went to Online Advertising, up from around 8% in 2008.

Most Advertising Mediums Declined in 2009:

• Broadcast TV Ad Spends Down19.0%
• Magazines — Down 20.0%
• Newspapers — Down 25.0%

Internet Advertising is where all this advertising money is getting refocused to!

In Australia Google has a 90% of the search engine market so being found there is vital to being found online.

And compared to other forms of advertising online advertising gives you much better feedback on whether the ad spend is actual working.

Remember the last time you put your ad in a magazine with 100,000 circulation? How many people looked at that ad? For how many seconds? Did they eventually buy?
It’s almost impossible to tell.

For whatever ad spends you buy in online advertising it is vital to have website statistics installed so that you know exactly what is happening and to help decide if that ad spend should be continued or paused.

You can’t stop a newspaper, television, or direct mail campaign in the middle of it very easy, if at all. And usually the high production costs are locked in before you even know if it will work.

With digital ads the production costs are low and spread across the process.
Now Let’s talk about some of the best practices in online advertising.
